How many times have you reinvented yourself? If you’re like me, the reinvention process presents itself several times each decade, especially in today's climate. I used to see this time in my life as a failure. Shaming myself for being in “this place” again. Sometimes considering my past a complete waste of time. This is a false and disempowering narrative that resists future possibilities.
Reinventing yourself doesn’t equal failure. Far from it! Reinventing yourself doesn’t mean you’re throwing away all that you have learned and all the growth you have experienced. Reinvention is a process of expansion and integration! You’re integrating all the new information you received since you last time you made a major change. You’re building upon the experiences, wisdom, beliefs, and emotional shifts that have occurred. You’re doing exactly what you’re meant to do here… grow! How boring, uneventful, and uninspired life would be without reinvention. We aren’t using the original lightbulb, car, or music devices. We think nothing of reinventing products for more efficiency, resilience or look, but yet we may see ourselves as complete failures when we feel it’s time to make a change. We can be so vulnerable at these times, can’t we?
If you’re in a time of reinvention, remember, it’s about building upon, not taking away. Success, not failure. Getting closer to what you do want and farther from what you don’t want. Coming into alignment. Ending the stress or suffering by not living in your truth. This is the space of self-empowered conscious creation… a grand integration of self.
